Event Details

This Spring Break, take a break...from reality!

Drawing inspiration from this year's Big Read selection, A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. LeGuin, teens (those currently in 6th through 12th grade) can come to the library for a writing workshop focused on producing short stories in the fantasy genre. Participants will brainstorm, write and polish their stories, and receive encouragement and tips from local fantasy author Crystal Inman.

This event is free and open to the public. Registration is requested but not required.

Finished pieces can be entered into a library contest with a chance to e-publish their work through Pioneer Library System.

You might like this program if:

  • You like to write or would like to learn more about writing.
  • You have an active (some may say crazy) imagination,
  • and/or you want to hang out with friends at the library and come up with wild ideas together,
  • and/or you like role-playing games and fantasy-related games (although this is not necessary).
  • You want to see your name in print!
  • You're bored and want something fun to do over the break.
