The 11th Annual Crowns Tea will be held at the Norman Public Library Central on Sunday, February 22nd with two identical seatings at 1:30 and 3:30 pm. This beloved event, based on the book Crowns by Michael Cunningham and Craig Marberry is a celebration of the African American church hat tradition. Ladies of all ages wearing hats are invited to attend. Entertainment will be provided by Ebony Voices, members of the Oklahoma Arts Council Performing Artists roster. The group incorporates music and womanly style in the telling of stories from the perspective of women. Ebony Voices specializes in original songs replete with acappella harmonies that plant their stories in the hearts and minds of the audience.
The event is free but tickets are required. Tickets will be available at the end of the African American Read In on Feb. 8th at 2 pm at Norman Library West and at both library locations beginning Feb. 9th.
