Blanchard ► FRONTLINE movie and Community Conversation

5:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Blanchard Public Library
Community Room

Event Details

Watch the FRONTLINE film "Being Mortal" based on the PLS Big Read book by Atul Gawande. FRONTLINE follows renowned New Yorker writer and Boston surgeon Atul Gawande as he explores the relationships doctors have with patients who are nearing the end of life. The film investigates the practice of caring for the dying, and shows how doctors--himself included--are often remarkably untrained, ill-suited and uncomfortable talking about chronic illness and death with their patients.

Following the film, a panel of community experts will lead a group discussion about the types of conversations we may want to have with family and friends. FRONTLINE is a production of WGBH Educational Foundation/Boston.  Light refreshments will be provided at 5:30, with the film starting at 6:00 p.m. Space is limited registration required.
