Norman Central ► Muslim Voices For Children
Muslim Voices is 5-part book discussion program for children ages 8-12. Participants will explore the universal themes of courage, freedom, and community through literature featuring Muslim protagonists. Each 60-minute session will be led by Professor of Humanities Richard Rouillard and Kim Zahller and will focus on one book and one theme. Programs will be held at the Norman Public Library Central in the Story Time Room at 3 pm on the following dates:

February 8: The Librarian of Basra (picture book) by Jeanette Winter
February 15: Shooting Kabul (chapter book) by N.H. Senzai
February 22: Nasreen’s Secret School (picture book) by Jeanette Winter
March 1: Where the Streets Had a Name (chapter book) by Randa Abdel-Fattah
March 8: Kampung Boy (comic book) by Lat

The books are free for the children to keep and will be available at the Children's information desk beginning January 25th. Registration is required and please make plans to attend all five sessions. Snacks will be provided.

This program is sponsored by the New York Council for the Humanities and underwritten by the National Endowment for the Humanities. Local support is provided by the Oklahoma Humanities Council and the Pioneer Library System.
